Our respected mentor, Dr. Alexander Jacob, holds a special place in our hearts. He personally presented his own success story to the children in our Secret of My Success program, captivating them with his humility, wisdom, and warmth. His love for questions and his eagerness to interact with young minds make him both an inspiration and an approachable guide for all of us.
Dr. Alexander Jacob is an Indian retired police officer and former college lecturer whose career reflects a rare blend of academic depth and public service. Rising to the rank of Director General of Police in the Kerala Police, he headed the Prisons Department before taking charge as Managing Director of the Kerala Police Housing Construction Corporation.
Currently, he serves as the Nodal Officer of the National University for Police Sciences and Security Studies, continuing his mission to strengthen law enforcement education and training.
Born in Thumpamon, Kerala, to schoolteacher parents, Alexander Jacob’s early life was steeped in the values of education and discipline.
He earned a B.Sc. in Chemistry from Mar Ivanios College, followed by master’s degrees in English, History, Politics, and Sociology.
Completed an MPhil with a thesis on low-cost policing and pursued PhD research in English literature on historical Indo-Anglian novels.
Before joining the police, he worked as a subeditor at Malayala Manorama and as a lecturer at Mar Ivanios College.
Joined the IPS in 1982, serving as Superintendent of Police in Kottayam and Kannur, and later as Commissioner of Police, Kochi City.
Served as Principal of the Police Training College (1992–1995) and later as Director of the Kerala Police Academy.
Held leadership roles including DIG (Northern Range), DIG (Armed Police Battalion), IGP (Training), and Director, Kerala Women’s Commission.
Civil Service Training—Known for mentoring and teaching civil service aspirants, inspiring hundreds to join public service.
Prison Reforms – Advocated for rehabilitation-oriented prison management, focusing on education and skill development for inmates.
Public Speaking & Education—Regularly addresses students, educators, and community groups on ethics, leadership, and social responsibility.
Author & Thought Leader – Writes and speaks extensively on policing, governance, and moral values.
Awards—Recipient of the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service (2004).
